This week Volterra and the Spanish San Cebrián Foundation have started the preparations for a planting that is planned to be executed this spring. The replication area is located on terrain of the Foundation, next to the village of San Cebrián, in the province of Palencia in Northern Spain.
The plantation will be executed and subsequently maintained by the employees of San Cebrián, an NGO that provides opportunities for work and personal development to people from its six different locations in the province of Palencia. A total of over 100 fruit trees (Figs, Almonds, Pistachios, Apples and Pears) and grapevines will be planted on the Foundation´s terrain, using the Cocoon. The fruits that will be obtained from the trees will be available for consumption to the Foundation´s employees and visitors. The replication activities in San Cebrián will promote the diversification of agricultural production in Spain´s Tierra de Campos.
