Morel mushrooms found at El Bruc
This week Volterra visited all the planting areas at El Bruc and reviewed also the Cocoons planted last November (2016). It was very interesting to observe the Morchella production inside the Cocoon area, this highly sought after mushroom apparently felt much at home in the protected and moist interior area of the Cocoon. Several groups of these mushrooms were observed in 5 Cocoons and in the future could be an interesting alternative crop for the land owner.
Morchella (morel), is a genus of edible sac fungi closely related to the anatomically simpler cup fungi. Morels are widely regarded as a delicacy and often a cash crop. More information [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morchella]
