On March 15th, in occasion of the global climate day, the IIS “V. Cardarelli ”of Tarquinia, through the Eng. Federico Boccalaro invited us to participate in the educational day organized. Marta Renzini, of Van Leijen European Consultant & Grant, presented our project to about thirty young students from the scientific high school accompanied by Professor Elisabetta Rovenni, host by the Unit for the Environmental Forestry Protection of Carabinieri inside the Tarquinia’ Saline Natural Reserve.
The morning kicked off with a presentation on climate change and desertification followed by a brief excursus on international actors and policies active for climate mitigation and adaptation and a focus on the contribution of LIFE The Green Link project and Cocoons in this scenario. Subsequently Eng. Boccalaro illustrated the phenomena of coastal erosion, some examples of redevelopment of coastal and marine environments and what is meant by marine litter.
The morning ended with a walk inside the Natural Reserve, accompanied by the forester Alfredo Cea, until the arrival on the beach of Tarquinia. The students took advantage of this opportunity to clean up of the coast.
